Many corporations are more powerful than Congress itself. Corporations employ the most powerful lawyers who know the loopholes, know how to circumvent the rules legally or sometimes illegally, rather than admit they made a mistake. Ask around. Ask Enron and visit this corporate scandal sheet of various companies.
Why?
The answer ALWAYS comes down to one thing and one thing only.......... CORPORATE GREED.
Money, money, money. Corporate American GREED which is turning into Corporate American BANKRUPTCY!
"And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you
woah!
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign
And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner
Now, hey you Mister! can't you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat, you ain't suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside Uh!
And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign, it said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine."
----- Five Man Electrical Band noticed the signs in 1970. They were Canadians speaking about the social situation in the United States and Canada..
39 years later, this amazing song still speaks the truth about America. I don't care what city you are in, America has been "blocking our the scenery," with messages, but more so advertisements and billboards, for decades. Corporate America seems to have this distorted view of reality, that signs and multi-million dollar advertising campaigns are what sells goods in America. Corporate America has turned America into one big "SIGN" of what not to do with a country's ECONOMY.
You see, the "signs" have been pointing to these major companies bankruptcies for years. American's consume everything and produce nothing. What does America produce? If we took every other country out of the economic equasion, America would not be able to surivive on its own goods.
Actually Fortune's 500 #1 company, Wal-Mart, did more than 378 BILLION in total sales in 2009. That more than some entire countries business sales, yet their profit was only 3% of those total sales, and believe me most of the stuff at Wal-Mart is NOT "Made in America". So how is Wal-Mart helping US?
How people spend their discretionary income – the cash that goes to clothing, electronics, recreation, household goods, alcohol – depends a lot on where they live. People in Greece spend almost 13 times more money on clothing as they do on electronics. Japanese people spend more on recreation than they do on clothing, electronics and household goods combined. Americans spend money on SENSELESS things as well. We consume everything, look around, what do you see? It used to be fast food, retail, banks, and SUV's. Now it is just fast food. America spends $205 BILLION dollars a year just on alcohol and tobacco.
