What does the upside down American flag mean?
The upside down U.S. flag is an official signal of dire distress. It is not meant to be, and is not officially recognized as any type of disrespect when so displayed for the right reasons.

CAN AMERICA CHANGE? |
 |
Change is inevitable. People change, places change, economies change.
America’s economy has been on the brink of disaster for a long time. It was only until recently that the artificial economical boom turned into a sophisticated economic bust. America was founded on hard work, farming, and dedication. Over the last hundred years, America has seen several drastic shifts in its economy and economic backbone.
If you read any history book, or read about the history of how just about every town and city in America was started, you will read that the very first thing that a town and city built was a post office. The towns and cities that had railroad access experienced tremendous growth through the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The railroads quickly became the backbone of the American economy through the Civil War and until highways were constructed and transportation by trucks became more cost and time efficient.
With technology rapidly advancing in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Americans saw different ways to make tons of money by doing very little work. Hard work became a thing of the past. Americans stopped working hard and farming became an unprofitable industry to be in. With minimum wage reaching $7.25 an hour earlier this year, the few remaining farmers are going to see even more tough times ahead.
In the 1980’s and into the first few years in the 2000’s, America was banking heavily on retail. Everywhere you turned, strip malls, megamalls, and retail stores were popping up all over America. At the same time this retail boom was happening, the Internet was experiencing its own boom behind the scene. Information was being able to be passed instantly which used to take days and sometimes weeks. The Internet also quickly became an invaluable tool among businesses.
The Internet caused many businesses to experience hardship which they wouldn’t have normally encountered had the Internet not been developed. The Internet also made it possible for businesses to sell and deliver products and services to markets that were virtually unreachable for them prior to its existence. The Internet’s ability to transfer information faster than the speed of light has helped consumers find and obtain things they need much faster and cheaper than previously before. At the same time it has hindered the progress of many businesses and industries. A perfect example of this is the post office. Because people are able to pay their bills with the click of a few buttons, the need for the postal system has likely been cut in half, if not worse. Telephone books are also quickly becoming a thing of the past. Many industries have crumpled or collapsed completely with the expansion of the Internet. Many more industries are suffering. The biggest industries that are currently suffering are the pornography industry and music and movie industries. Because the movie and music industries decided to wage war with the Internet, instead of adapting to the Internet and change, they shot themselves in the foot. Instead of the music industry selling music at affordable prices and recognizing that people no longer are willing to purchase and entire CD of music just to get one or two songs, the music industry has continuously tried to prevent people from stealing music. If the music industry had recognized the economic change that was sweeping across the world, and adapted to the change, they could have saved billions of dollars in lawsuits and people would have purchased the music rather than stealing it.
The pornography industry is another industry that has been on the decline because of the availability of free pornography. Once again, people were no longer willing to pay $30 or $40 for a DVD, when they can get similar quality sexual materials for free from many different places. Playboy and Penthouse magazines are no longer what men are interested in. This brings us to another industry that is suffering, the printing industry. Newspapers and magazines are a thing of the past. Information changes so rapidly and can be passed along so quickly now with the Internet, newspapers and magazines are no longer of much use. By the time the newspaper reaches your front door, more news has already occurred. Every economy and industry is based on the simplest of principles, supply and demand. As the demand changes in a economy so does everything else in the economy.
If you drive in or around any city, look around you. What do you see? You see retail, retail, and more retail space. What did you see that wasn’t retail? You saw banks and fast food and car dealerships. America’s need for retail is diminishing as quickly as the need for the postal service. Americans have become lazy. Americans want to do as little as possible and make as much money for doing nothing as possible. Office jobs are every American’s dream. Americans complain about the illegal aliens and Hispanics taking all of the construction jobs such as roofing and painting. The problem is that the Hispanic mentality is completely different than that of an American. Generally speaking, Hispanics are happy to have a job, regardless of how shitty that job may be. Hispanics also are willing to give it their all, day in and day out. Americans do not want to get on an extremely steep roof in the middle of August in jeans and long sleeves to do roofing for seven or eight dollars an hour.
